Faraday Future Unveils The Crazy Looking FFZERO1 Concept Car


Electric car company Faraday Future unveiled its first concept car, the FFZero1, at CES 2016 this evening in Las Vegas, Nevada. And true to an earlier leaked image, it looks a lot like the Batmobile.

However, Faraday sees this vehicle as more of a “car of concepts” than just a singular concept car. Along with the FFZero1, the company revealed a variable platform architecture (VPA) will allow various parts and feature swaps to create a customizable car akin to personalized Nike shoes.

The car comes with some pretty odd features, along with the swapping capabilities. The seating is made for zero gravity situations and comes out of NASA tech, and the car will channel oxygen and water through a helmet. You can also stick your iPhone right on the steering wheel for navigation and other data and the car will act as a “digital copilot” by projecting augmented reality visuals on the road ahead.

The car is something “not of this world,” said Faraday’s head of global design Richard Kim, who also pointed out the strange “UFO line” design, seperating part of the body parts into black and silver on the concept car.

The TechCrunch team actually got an accidental sneak preview of the car after arriving a bit too early for the show tonight. Lacking any signage or people to tell us to “go away” we walked right in and saw it with our own eyes before everyone else. Of course, it looked the same as the leaked images from earlier.

Along with the modular car, Faraday revealed it would be building a car manufacturing plant in Northern Nevada and that it has formed an alliance with Chinese electronics company LeTV.

LeTV invests in many electronics and plans to unveil its own car concept this year, however it looks like it is in more than just an alliance with FF. You may recall an earlier TechCrunch report revealed just how much LeTV backs Faraday, even buying the building it currently works out of in Gardena California.

Yu Founder On Next Flagship and Open Source Model for Upcoming Smartphones

Micromax subsidiary Yu Televentures is gearing up to launch its next flagship smartphone this month. Ahead of the launch, company founder Rahul Sharma spoke to Gadgets 360 about the company's strategy for upcoming smartphones and the relationship with Cyanogen. He confirmed that the upcoming Yu flagship will run Android with some customisations from the company, and not Cyanogen , as seen on its predecessor.
